THE ANCIENT AND THE NEW

Simone Rubino percussions
Christoph Linder, Lukas Kuhn, Jo Wei Liu percussions
Simone Rubino, 29, from Turin, is a successful exception on the European music scene. In his hands, and through his body, all percussion instruments have become an ever-expanding universe. Cymbals, gongs, marimbas, temple blocks, xylophones and claves have been transformed from secondary actors into stars, into solo voices. Without distinction of genre, era, style or affiliation. This is demonstrated by the programme of his ‘one man show’: alongside the ‘classics’ (Cage, Xenakis), the intersections with poetry (Curtoni), electronics (Cangelosi) and the baroque (Bach). The exploration goes on.
