PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CONCERT HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO WEDNESDAY 12 JULY DUE TO THE ARTISTS’ ILLNESS.
The young Siegfried Quartet, winner of the “Premio Farulli”, awarded every year by the Italian music critics as part of the Abbiati Prize, artfully constructs the program of this concert by placing two masterpieces of chamber literature side by side: the Quartet “L Haydn’s ‘aurora’ with its extraordinary initial theme and Shostakovich’s spectacular Quartet op.110 with its expressionist overtones; Langsamer Satz acts as a bridge, a quartet movement composed by Webern in 1905, a youthful work of intense expressiveness still linked to tonalism and the Brahmsian chamber “word” yet already projected towards modernity.
