oratorio di san filippo neri
The Ancient and the New coexist naturally, side by side, in the “home” of the string quartet. Under the auspices of mdi ensemble, they take on the “sixteen strings” of the quartet, performing a masterpiece of late 19th-century chamber music like Debussy’s String Quartet in G minor, composed in 1893 under the strong influence of César Franck and the “cyclical form,” alongside a new work by Daniela Terranova, a student of Azio Corghi and Beat Furrer. What unites them is a shared attitude towards strong sonic gestures: implicit in Debussy, explicit and inclined toward the “creation of a sound choreography” in the style of the Italian composer.
