“An Experiment with Time” is a story, a game, and a journey through an overlapping of time cycles that depicts the world, and life, as an immense polyrhythm. This is how Daniele Ghisi, a forty-year-old Italian composer, describes his project for video, ensemble, and electronics, commissioned by IRCAM in Paris. The idea is drawn from an experiment-story created in 1927 by philosopher John William Dunne, which demonstrates how, in the dream experience, there is no distinction between the present and the future because all events occur simultaneously. In the program, marking the centenary of his birth, FontanaMIX pairs Luciano Berio’s Sequenze for violin and clarinet.
