GREAT PERFORMERS
Thursday 9th June 2022, 8.30pm
Teatro Manzoni
Khatia Buniatishvili piano
In a recording of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Khatia Buniatishvili smiles at the orchestra and the orchestra smiles back. In this simple gesture is contained one of the two ‘souls’ of the Georgian pianist: the search for complicity, for the physical and exuberant pleasure of making music together. The other is her “musical solitude” – as she herself has defined it – which, on the contrary, drives her to dialogue with herself. The two sides are ideally brought together in the programme of this concert: a dizzyingly rhythmical but joyful journey through the ‘short form’: from Bach to Satie.
Oratorio di San Filippo Neri 6 PM | PRIMA DELLE NOTE: Guido Barbieri presents the concert programme.
