Evgeny Kissin

Evgeny Kissin is undoubtedly one of the most beloved pianists of our time, not only for the transcendental virtuosity that has accompanied him since childhood, but also for his musical intelligence, which gives all of his interpretations a depth and poetic quality truly unique. His presence in Bologna—always with carefully selected Italian dates for his tours—is, once again, an exceptional event. This time, it is even more remarkable as it is a double appointment, combining the usual unparalleled cultural stature of his recitals with a special educational and social significance.

On Sunday, March 30, Kissin will meet his loyal admirers, along with several students from the Fondazione Accademia Internazionale di Imola, listening to their performances and offering valuable interpretative advice. The recital on Monday, March 31, is not to be missed, opening with Bach’s Second Partita, followed by two famous Nocturnes and Chopin’s Op. 54 Scherzo. The second half is entirely dedicated to Shostakovich, featuring his Second Sonata and a selection of Preludes and Fugues. A program specifically crafted for this concert, following the subtle thread that links Bach and Chopin to Shostakovich, whose 50th anniversary of passing is commemorated this year.
