Vivaldi’s Perspective
20th – 23rd May 2024
Various venues – bologna
The new project taking place in Bologna around the figure of Antonio Vivaldi takes inspiration from the recent recognition of the portrait preserved here as the true face of the “Red Priest”, as identified following intricate verifications and in-depth studies. But it will also be an opportunity to involve the public in a compelling story concerning his music, a story that many of those who passionately listen to it today probably do not know. A program that unfolds through concerts, meetings, visits, and films to lead us to discover the strange story of this artist who, after enjoying the highest recognitions, miserably fell into complete oblivion in the last years of his life, only to reappear, two hundred years after his death, among the most performed authors today, with an extensive and acclaimed repertoire on stages worldwide. This is a program shared with the Cineteca of Bologna and the International Museum and Library of Music of Bologna, that Bologna Festival thanks for enthusiastically embracing the idea of working together around the figure of one of the most representative artists in the entire history of music.
Program
The project is carried out in collaboration with the International Museum and Library of Music in Bologna, the Cineteca of Bologna, the Chigiana Musical Academy in Siena, and the Italian Institute Antonio Vivaldi of the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice.
