Usually, a conductor is evaluated by the outcome of its performances. It is not the case of Teodor Currentzis. The way the Greek conductor creates “his own” orchestras is, in fact, an integral part of his interpretative philosophy.

This happened back in 2004 when he created musicAeterna from scratch in Russia, and it occurred again last year when he “conceived” the Utopia Orchestra. Currentzis individually selects his musicians one by one, looking for them all around the globe. Thereafter, he contributes to create with them an atmosphere full of enthusiasm, precision and friendship.

All this ensures a new, surprising, enthralling vision even for an “untouchable” masterpiece like Mozart’s Requiem: introduced by some Byzantine songs entrusted to the choir and the solo voice of Adrian Sîrbu, Mozart’s work is renewed with profound spirituality.
