Grandi Interpreti
TUESDAY 7TH MAY 2024 | 8.30 pm
Auditorium Manzoni
Cappella Andrea Barca
András Schiff
piano, conductor
In 1999, when András Schiff initiated the complete cycle of Mozart’s piano Concertos in Salzburg, he gathered around him a new orchestra titled after a mysterious composer named Andrea Barca. This composer was entirely imaginary. In fact, the name is the Italian translation of the Hungarian pianist and conductor’s own name. Born from a linguistic jest, the ensemble established itself over time as the ideal interpreter of the instrumental repertoire of Viennese classicism. This is evidenced by the program of this concert, which frames one of Haydn’s legendary London Symphonies with the two adjacent Mozart piano concertos composed in 1786.
PROGRAM:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Concerto in C major KV 503
Franz Joseph Haydn
