Even though her concert career has led her to explore, mainly, the classical repertoire of the 19th and the 20th centuries, Janine Jansen was born and raised with Bach’s music in her mind and heart. As she herself states, the Bach’s “violin concerto in E major” (which is part of today programme) was her first public concert at the age of ten. Among her most vivid childhood memories are her father playing Bach on the harpsichord at home and choral music in the Cathedral of Utrecht. Today these memories have matured to the point that the entire concert, alongside Amsterdam Sinfonietta, is dedicated to both Bach and the composer’s favourite son Carl Philipp Emanuel.
