When Fabio Biondi founded Europa Galante in 1989, historically informed performance of the Classical-Baroque repertoire was almost exclusively the domain of Northern European ensembles. From that moment, the landscape of 17th- and 18th-century performance practice underwent a radical transformation, and Italian ensembles gained increasing authority and originality. This long journey—marked by 60 recordings and nearly a thousand concerts worldwide—culminates in a performance at the Bologna Festival, where the essence of the group’s and its founder’s interpretative approach comes to life: from Vivaldi’s iconic violin concertos to the concerti grossi of Corelli and Geminiani.
