The Paganini Prize is the violin Nobel Prize. Winning it can change lives, as past triumphant artists can attest: Salvatore Accardo, Gidon Kremer, Leonidas Kavakos, Isabelle Faust, Ilya Gringolts. In October of last year, Simon Zhu, a 22-year-old German from Tübingen, joined their ranks as the 57th edition winner. In Bologna, he presents a well-balanced program that blends classicism and virtuosity, featuring the precious addition of a solo violin piece by Silvia Colasanti, commissioned by the Paganini Prize to the Roman composer.
